Whispered Tales - Distant Drums
4pm-8pm
Distant Drums is a dynamic and thought-provoking performance that tells the story of Reggae Sound System culture and its role in the fight for racial equality. A handcrafted bespoke sound system stands proudly on a statue plinth. As the speakers power up, digital screens appear within the stack and through animated films transport the audience from Africa to the Caribbean and finally to the shores of the UK. Written by Madu Messenger, narrated by Macka B, choreographed by Donald Edwards with a distinctive Dub soundtrack by Vibronics, Distant Drums promises to be an exhilarating performance not to be missed.
Gandini Juggling - Glow Walkabouts
4.30pm, 5.30pm, 6.30pm
Gandini Juggling’s Glow routines are a magical marriage of the most advanced light technology available and virtuoso juggling. Watch as the colours of the clubs pulsate, jumping and fading in and out of mesmerising colour palettes, while the jugglers perform astounding juggling patterns. Formed in 1992 by world-renowned jugglers Sean Gandini and Kati Ylä-Hokkala, Gandini Juggling continues to be at the vanguard of contemporary circus, reinventing and reinvigorating juggling for the 21st century.
Emergency Exit Arts - Recovery Poems
4pm-8pm
How do we commemorate what’s been lost as we start to take tentative steps to coming out of lockdown? What do we want to hold onto and grow? What positive changes can we make to society and the natural environment as we recover from the pandemic? Through talking and listening to communities, artists Robert Montgomery and Deanna Rodger have created an inspiring light poem that is visiting public spaces all over the UK.
No need to book, just turn up and enjoy!
